Useful to know

The Llangefni property landscape showcases numerous styles ranging from traditional Welsh cottages to modern detached homes. The town features a mix of historical architecture, with many properties reflecting the rural charm typical of North Wales. Notably, there are character homes like converted barns and farmhouses that offer unique living spaces.

Currently, the Parc Y Coed development is underway on the outskirts of Llangefni, adding modern two-bedroom detached bungalows designed to blend with the local aesthetic while providing updated amenities.

Properties in Llangefni are very affordable, and the average sold price across this last year was £219K. The most common sales were of detached houses, which went for more than the average (£291K). Semis went for less (£205K), and terraces were significantly cheaper at £135K (find out more on the HM Land Registry website).

Located more or less at the centre of the island some 7.5 miles NW of Britannia Bridge, take the A5114 off the A55 /A5. The town’s central location has made it the administrative centre of the island.  The centre of town is marked by a stone clock tower, erected here at the time of the Boer War.  Llangefni supports several industries, including, factories, building and agricultural suppliers.

At the eastern end of town is the home of the Coleg Menai and “Theatr Fach” offering productions in Welsh and English.  At the centre, along the one way system, you will find Stryd Yr Eglwys (Church Street) and our house where a warm welcome awaits.

Llangefni sits right in the heart of Anglesey in North Wales, providing a great starting point to explore other spots across the island, as well offering several local gems of its own.

You can explore the medieval Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens in Llangefni, climb Snowdon via the Snowdon Ranger Path, browse the historic Llangefni Market (established 1283), visit the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden, or learn about local history at the Anglesey Heritage Museum.

The idyllic Nant-y-Pandy nature reserve with its luxuriant water features and green spaces is the perfect place for a family day out. Equally, the Oriel Mon art gallery and cultural centre offers a wealth of history and insight into the Island of Anglesey, with the Theatr Fach Llangefni presenting local plays.

Llangefni provides an excellent range of everyday services that are close together and easily accessible across the town – from supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl, Asda), to the Ysbyty Cefni Hospital.

The Parc Llangefni retail park lies 10 minutes away from the town centre. Dining options include The Bull Inn (gastropub), The Spice of Life (Indian), and The Courthouse Restaurant (modern European cuisine). Local amenities include Llangefni Medical Centre, Bodlon Leisure Centre (10 mins away), and Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital (20 mins away). You can find many shops on Church Street.

The nearest train station is at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, 5 miles (8 km) away. There are frequent buses to the larger settlements of Bangor and Holyhead as well as to the smaller towns of Amlwch and Beaumaris.

Regular bus services connect to Caernarfon (20 mins) and Chester (1 hr 30 mins). By road the town is just 2 kilometres from the major A55 and A5 roads, via the short A5114. Water for the town comes from Llyn Cefni, a reservoir 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the northwest.

Llangefni is the cultural and administrative centre for Anglesey, sitting right near the centre of the island, sporting the Oriel Mon arts and culture centre which acts as a hub for the history, arts and archaeology relating to the island. Its central position makes it the ideal place to access any other part of the Island too.

Local people speak both Welsh and English and readily slip from one to the other. Our Llangefni home has a great team of people – ready willing and able to help you move from this location we tend to cover the central area of the island up to Amlwch and Cemaes Bay in the North right down to Rhosneigr and Aberffraw including Newborough on the South side of the island.
